ONE OF THESE FLOWERS COULD HAVE BEEN OUR NATIONAL FLOWER....
But is was the hibiscus or Bunga Raya that got the coveted title.Although there are many varieties of the hibiscus, the five-petaled flower was chosen as the most symbolically relevant. The petals symbolise the Rukunegara (the Five Principles of Nationhood),while the colour red represents courage. It's also been immortalised in a new series of stamps featuring garden flowers from Pos Malaysia.
